Winifred E Preedy Undergraduate Scholarship
The Australian Federation of University Women – South Australia Inc. (AFUW-SA Inc.) Trust Fund is offering the above scholarship for the year 2020. Money for this award is provided from the bequest of Winifred E. Preedy BDS (1901-1989), a devoted Life Member of AFUW-SA Inc., who graduated in 1927, the second woman to graduate BDS in The University of Adelaide.
Applicants:
This scholarship is open to women undergraduates who are Australian citizens or permanent residents, studying in the Dental School at the end of their first year up to fourth year, to further their studies in dentistry at The University of Adelaide. Women in full time paid employment or on fully paid leave during the tenure of the scholarship are not eligible to apply, nor are previous winners of this scholarship.
The scholarship is envisaged primarily as a short-term aid to assist with the completion of the 2020 academic year. Examples of purposes for which the scholarship may be used are equipment or book costs, fees incurred because of study commitments, and short-term assistance with living expenses.
Selection criteria
The selection of the scholarship winner is based primarily on the following criteria: academic merit, financial need and the purpose for which the scholarship is sought. All of the information presented in the application will be taken into account.
The amount of each scholarship will not exceed the $1,000, but may be less depending on the requirements of each successful applicant. More than one scholarship may be offered if enough funds are available. No one will be awarded more than one scholarship in any one year. In exceptional circumstances the trustees of The AFUW-SA Inc. Trust Fund reserve the right not to award a scholarship.
Funds are provided from the bequest of Winifred E. Preedy BDS (1901-1989), the second woman to graduate BDS in the University of Adelaide.
Your application must reach the Trust Fund’s secretarial service by 31 March 2020.
